Inspiring the Next Generation: Cooper Heating & Cooling Owner Visits STEM Lab Career Day

At Cooper Heating & Cooling, we believe in building a stronger future — not just through a high-efficiency comfort system but by investing in our communities and inspiring the next generation.
That’s why our owner, Luke Cooper, was thrilled to participate in a Career Day STEM Lab, where he spoke with an enthusiastic group of first-grade students about careers in HVAC and the trades.
Sparking Curiosity Early
First graders may not be thinking about career paths yet — but as Luke shared stories about heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical work, their eyes lit up with curiosity and excitement. From how furnaces keep homes warm to how AC units beat the summer heat, Luke helped students connect what they see in their homes with the science and technology behind it.
What’s HVAC, Anyway?
To keep things fun and hands-on, Luke brought simple props and examples to help explain the basics of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) in a way first graders could understand. He even walked them through how ductwork works like a big maze in their house and how technicians use tools to fix systems and keep families comfortable.
Planting the Seeds for the Future
At Cooper, we know that skilled trades are vital to our everyday lives and that we must encourage and support young people to explore these career paths early. Career Day allowed us to show students that jobs in HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work are essential but also rewarding, hands-on, and full of opportunities to help others.
Luke also shared what it’s like to run a family- and veteran-owned business and why respect, teamwork, and doing the right thing guide everything we do at Cooper Heating & Cooling.
Building a Brighter, Greener Future
As Colorado grows, the demand for energy-efficient systems and skilled tradespeople grows. Through events like STEM Lab Career Day, we hope to inspire the next generation of problem solvers, builders, and innovators to carry the torch forward.
