April Employee of the Month: Mike Angelo, HVAC Expert in Colorado

Meet Mike Angelo

Mike Angelo has been working in HVAC since 2004 and brings over 20 years of experience to homeowners across the Colorado Front Range.

As our April Employee of the Month, Mike is known around the team as the HVAC Guy.” From installs to service to training, he’s done it all and continues to make an impact across the company.

How It All Started

Mike got his start with a local Boulder HVAC company, where he learned the trade hands-on. Early in his career, a mentor encouraged him to take things further and earn his Applied Science degree through Red Rocks Community College.

That mix of real-world experience and formal training gave him a strong foundation that he’s built on ever since, working across both residential and commercial HVAC systems.

Growing with Cooper

Mike joined Cooper Heating & Cooling in June of 2010 as a Service Technician. Since then, he’s worked across both the service and install sides of the business, giving him a full understanding of how systems perform from day one through years of use.

That experience shows up in every job. Thoughtful, thorough, and focused on getting it right the first time.

Stepping Into Leadership

After more than two decades in the field, Mike is now stepping into a new role focused on training and development.

As his supervisor shared:

Mike Angelo is stepping into a completely new role after 25 years in the field, and he’s handling it exactly how you’d expect — steady, dependable, and all-in. What could feel like starting over, he’s turned into real progress by building structure and laying the foundation for our technician leveling program. He’s embracing the shift and showing the team what it looks like to adapt and lead when it matters most.”

This transition is a big step, not just for Mike, but for the entire team.

Helping the Next Generation of HVAC Techs

Mike has always had a knack for teaching and helping others grow.

In Fall 2025, he helped launch our formal HVAC training program, focused on helping technicians advance in their careers while improving the level of service we provide to homeowners.

He also became a NATE proctor, which means he helps train and certify technicians. That directly benefits our customers by ensuring more highly trained, certified HVAC professionals are working on their systems.

Why That Matters for Homeowners

When your technician is well-trained, you feel the difference.

  • Fewer breakdowns
  • Lower energy bills
  • Better system performance
  • Longer equipment life

That’s what Mike is helping deliver, not just through his own work, but through the entire team.

Why Mike Chooses Cooper

For Mike, it comes down to the people.

He values the family feel, the opportunity to grow, and being part of the company’s continued growth. The trust the Cooper family has placed in him is a big reason he’s stayed and continues to invest in the team.

Outside of Work

When he’s not working, Mike enjoys staying active and getting outdoors.

You’ll find him swimming, playing guitar, or heading out to hunt and fish.

Work with a Team You Can Trust

At Cooper Heating & Cooling, team members like Mike are what make the difference.
